The Track — Cygnet Town Hall
Our home venue in the Huon Valley. Polished hardwood, foam barriers, and a surprisingly fast layout.

Tassie Mini-Z Club races at the Cygnet Town Hall, a heritage hall in the Huon Valley about 50 minutes south of Hobart.
The venue
- Address: 21 Mary St, Cygnet TAS 7112
- Surface: Polished hardwood — fast, consistent grip, and kind to tyres
- Layout: RCP track tiles and foam barriers. The layout changes every few months to keep things interesting.
- Facilities: Toilets, kitchen (tea and coffee available), parking on the street
Getting there
From Hobart, take the Huon Highway (A6) south through Huonville to Cygnet. The hall is on Mary Street in the centre of town, across from the post office. Allow about 50 minutes from Hobart CBD.
What to expect
The hall is a single large room — enough space for a full track layout, pit tables along the walls, and spectators. The atmosphere is relaxed. Kids are welcome. The floor is the real star: polished timber gives the cars consistent traction and makes tyre choice a genuine decision.
Lighting is overhead fluorescent — bright enough for racing, but bring a small torch if you need to work on your car in the pits.
Track layout
We use RCP (RC Parts) foam track tiles for the barriers, with the polished floor as the racing surface. The layout typically includes:
- A main straight with timing loop
- 3–5 sweeping corners
- At least one tight hairpin
- A chicane section (when we’re feeling ambitious)
The layout gets refreshed periodically. Check the event page for photos of the current configuration.
Race nights
Doors open around 5:30 PM for setup and practice. Racing starts at 6:00 PM. We usually wrap up by 9:00 PM. Check the events page for specific times — they can vary.
